ROMANCE WITH POETRY

passion for poetry

Roop Sagar’s romance with poetry blossomed since teenage. He had the privilege to meet legendry poet and lyricist late Sh. Sudarshan Fakir which oriented his interest in writing and a young county cricket player soon realised his passion for poetry.

​

He indulged in self learning of Urdu language and under the guidance of his Ustaad Akhtar Azad, an eminent Urdu poet, his 1st poetry book titled ‘Mausam Yaadon Ke’ was launched under Sabrang International’s banner in early 2019. His poetry has also featured in books like ‘Jahaan-E-Ghazal’, ‘Shabdon Ke Rang’ and Chaand Sitare’. His work rhetorically reflects Hindawi ideolect.

His poetry has been released in ghazal albums namely Ehbaab (Single 2016) by Artist Aloud, Aamad The Arrival (2017) by Sabrang International and Dastaan (2020) by Times Music.

In 2018’s Artist Aloud Music Awards 6th Edition, Ehbaab won the best ghazal award and Aamad The Arrival was nominated in three different categories which included best album, best ghazal and best hindi song.
